Boston artist, Sandie Fenton, grew up in the California desert and the Florida coastline. As a child, she traveled across the country many times and has early memories of underground caverns in New Mexico, Seminole Indian villages in Florida, fireflies outside her grandfather's house in Dallas, and trails of smoke left by rocket launches at Cape Kennedy. Later, travels in Mexico and Europe brought her into contact with other folk art traditions as well as contemporary ceramics, metalwork, painting, and sculpture. Such early experiences led to a life-long interest in the complex connections between time, place, culture, ritual, and ceremony — interests that have motivated her work for over twenty-five years.

On exhibit at The Sign of the Dove's Holiday Store and year round store is Sandie Fenton's "Wild Spirit" Collection of riveted anodized aluminum jewelry, clocks, and ornaments in bright contemporary colors and patterns. Fanciful fish, cat, dog and "Wild Women" pins, necklaces, and earrings combine silver, anodized aluminum, and charms. Wild and colorful fish, horse, bird, and cat clocks with tiny hands and feet, and ornaments with bells, riveted bright metals, and paint are a wonderful addition to anyone's collection.
