Type of work: jewelry Business Name: Colmark Designs I enjoy creating jewelry with precious metal clay (PMC), because it has an immediacy that is often lacking in cast metal. I can shape it and work with it like regular clay but then after it is fired in a kiln, I am left with an object of .999 silver (or 22k gold) that can be worked with traditional tools and techniques of the metalsmith. For me, itís the best of both worlds, and allows me an almost unlimited freedom to create what I see in my mind's eye and the spontaneity to create it on the spot.
Description of work I craft primarily jewelry both for men and for women. As my medium is a form of clay, my tools are varied and from many other disciplines: rubber stamps, canape cutters, fondant working tools, pottery tools (and techniques), leatherworking tools, an old kitchen knife from the thrift store, buttons, just to name a few. My work is somewhat akin to found art, as my creations are often inspired by the tools I find. Some of the places that I find inspiration are in the past, in nature, and in architecture.
Price range $20.00 to $180.00
